Kalpana's Poems & Writings

Kalpana Shah

Day 13 - six-line stanzas. 12 syllables for each line. 2nd and 4th lines repeat same end word. 5th and 6th lines repeat their same end word.

Windows sealed, sight  I find, while walking alley

It seemed a village was fast asleep in

Closed doors, dark lanes,  look ghostly

Where have all gone, they are not to be seen

Passing through the lane, i hear the screams

Screams from gallows haunt in the darkest dreams

A ghost returns at midnight silence

Corpses screams heard around, not to be seen

On the walls written, words with blood, i see

A history of blood bath, i could feel within

Thousands in the rows, fall one by one

Shots! Thud! Blood splashing, game of red dance

History, nobody wants  repeat

Souls shiver at the sight, cries heard of kins

1947 came as boon, india celebrated light

A light of freedom, on the blood  arose

Blood of sacrife, not went in vain

Now we decode, criticize the sacrificial ruins

Words under the Pain

Hundreds of roses was promised to me

Where are they?

You promised to me

Then, They were on the way

I am still waiting!

It’s time to sleep now

But i took a vow

To stay awake till it’s wee

Roses with you to appear

I stand on the door of memories

Waiting for the music for you to play

Why can’t i hear, you see?

Your vows and mine resonates

Echoes, i hear! hitting hard!

On the walls of my room

The doors you and i have closed

Never to reopen

Come whatever may!

A pain has subsided and slow

Till eternity it shall glow

Why can’t it be shallow?

Like the waves , they roar and go

Subsided pain sitting in us

Like a river it has to  flow

Why has the sun lost its way?

Even moon is not on my way

Why is, in my life, Everyday,

A no moon nights?

Why has sun hidden under clouds of pain

Or is it my hallucination?

Please come back to tell me!!

Our seperation is no more there

We are in one soul

Till we get old!

Keep on coming

Make me believing

We are the souls,

together for infinity

Never to grow out of fondness

We have for each other

I wait for you to play the music once more

In synchrony of the vows,

we took in silence

Ghazal

Fragrance of  love, i could find

In the air that i could not bind

A book i wrote on him

Anonymity of his book, i signed

Where lived once freedom

Now lives a girl in a cage she died

Nothing has changed in the world

It’s a date that change to remind

Never will there be an end to war

War for peace, they say “no”to wind

Lord, think about the people

In the world pathetic, everyday they grind

It’s the world of imagination ( kalpana) my world, i live

World of reality is pushing me out to mind

Wild Clock

 NaPoWriMo / GloPoWriMo 2025

Day-3,

Kalpana Shah

Wild Clock

On the wall, hanging,

For Ages & Ages

Talking to me

Telling tales of times

I know you have spoken

In the silence words unspoken

Bashing me, elating me,

Your two hands, unsounding,

Frustrating me, i asking, why me?

Destiny proves

Evidences of time

Fortune the unfortunate me

And sometimes, unexpectedly

Snatch the soul out of me

Leaving me aghast,

I look at you to hear you

But Alas! Cells within you,

Drained, Stopped forever!

Goodbyes forever!!

I am my own Buddha

#Glopowrimo2020 #napowrimo2020

Prompt 6 - ekphrasis poem

   I am my own Buddha

In silence and serenity you live

With hands on your laps

In a pose of padmasan

Radiating enlightenment

Reflecting;

you are off materialistic ally

Looking at me with closed eyes

As though making me feel inferior

Because of grevious  sins on my soul

I walk on this earth very old

Nay! i am not a loser as you make me feel

With your locked eyes

you make me feel as a criminal

A crown on your head is a proof

You still have a greed to conquer

A world that you made but is unconquered

And you decided to never be like us

Standing on my place and looking as i do

From there you just look at me with glory

Displaying  pompously your enlightenment

I smile to see you naive, immatured

I am not laughing at your sins and greed

Neither am i making mockery of your clothes

You are you i am me

You live as you want to live

It's your karma that will decide your form

It's my karma i am here, looking down on you

As you have a notion about me

I am sitting here with closed eyes

With no physical form but just enlightenment

In deep meditation for the world

I have renounced for betterment of people

Like you and all the others

I want you all to follow the path of Dharma

Dharma! This word makes me laugh

Which dharma you talk about?

Give me one dharma that is the truth

Most of the dharma in our world are fake

These  Gurus, and religious leaders

Who takes the place of yours

Under the huge conopy of dharma

I can see their inflation of egos

When people throng around them

If i need to follow, i shall follow you

Direct as you did for noble cause of people

If i need to follow Dharma,

It shall be in a form of noble service

To not hurt any living beings

as much as possible.

Random Wordplay

 Where is somewhere

Somewhere is nowhere

Nowhere ran when..

That No one knows

No one knows Where

Somewhere ran Nowhere

Where and When ran

Somewhere and Nowhere

DAILY TRAVELER

He was my winter

He came in summer

Showering love on me

Kissing sweat with rains

I forgot my endurance

Released pain at dawn

Travelled in his arms

I reached towards dusk

Finally finishing task

I grew in storm

Strong with him

We walked miles

With our smiles

On roads formidable

Travelled less

Unbound, timeless

We traveled upteen times
