Beauty of Nature

 Prompt: 27

Napowrimo/ Glopowrimo23

@Nationalpoetrywritingmonth2023

Beauty of Roses

Those beauties standing on thorns

 glowing and blooming

In myriad colors beautifying surrounding

Less known to world

Pain they breathe on thorns

They ooze colours on faces

On Envious nature they blush superficially

Seeing others pedestal soft

They bleed beauty on face

It’s rightly said, “ Endurance with patience glorifies you”

Have you seen those blue roses? All blessed and blessing us

those yellows, full of laughters, lightening beauty

Pinks & whites, blooming peace and good health

So what say!! Who can ignore beauty of Roses and move ahead?

No… I don’t instigate you to pluck and hurt them

Let them be where they belong

Let them live and perish on their own

You just go to any flower garden

To appreciate and click their pics with your eyes

Then settle them in your hearts

In need to feel the fragrance of their presence

In your life

And thanking nature to be with us

May God Bless Us With Beauty of Nature Constantly!

Self Reflection

 NaPoWriMo / GloPoWriMo 2025

Day1, Self Reflection

It was once, I remember,

My eyes i saw squinty

Unknown to me

The direction double

Oh! How i wished,

My neck like swan

Long and swanky

Ornamented,

Looking like queen’s neck

Oh! How i wished,

I was a queen

Nose seemed little straight

Or too crooked,

Impossible to judge

Or was it too broad

Cheeks plump

Like mountain peak

And the lips crooked

Now i wonder

From which angle

Did I reflect myself

As a perfect woman?

This question still haunts me!!

Day: 23

                  “Move On”

Collections of twigs done

I don’t know from where,

They have this skill honed

With no needle, no thread

They make the nest so beautiful

While making their nest

Their heart is joyful

They await for their beloved

To come to live in that nest

And if she doesn’t turn up

They will leave that home to “move on”

It’s a tale i tell  because they too know

“Moving on” is the best option

Day-24

             Lost Rhymes

For years i never sang

I knew my voice not in favour

I dropped out to write poems

In poems, there were few rhyming well

My daughter picked up those rhymes

And she made songs out of them

With her team orchestra

She on violin

Sat down to play and sing

People in the square

Liked the song, started tapping with their feet

I too joined her, as my confidence grown

I found my joy that was lost as a child

Happy today to meet my poems

In the songs they flaunt

On the battle ground, falls “Ravana” with injured body,

chanted the name of “Lord Rama.”

Rama- who was his enemy, on his last breath with Ravana.

Paradoxically, both being enemies,

Fought the battle frivolous.

Chivalrous heros! whom “the

Bharat- my country worships as “God”

Were they in reality the enemies?

With “Heart of Gold”

Sorrows, lies, hopes,

On the words, blood flowed

Deaths of Good Souls

The Battle was fought!!

II.

She was a woman, for whom,

dynasty of Pandavas fell!

Humiliation, molestation, betrayal, treachery, Archery

Led to bloody battle of “Hastinapur”- a land of Pandav dunasty

Words and swears exchanged

Elders held silence,

as a weapon to escape

Escape from questions where lied no answers

Conclusion of these two mythologies:

A wife of five Pandavas

A wife of devoted husband.

100 brothers on the battle front  in unity were killed

4 brothers, unitedly, they won

In both these mythologies

What truth do you and I hold

Out of these two mythologies?

Day: 16

Morning beauty delights

When the sun rises,

it turns to face the sun,

wishing, “A very good morning!”

A magical dance of the sunflowers

at the kiss of the rising star.

A morning sets the stage for music,

and the birds set to sing.

Morning sun whispers to me

from my window, mocking me,

“Wake up to see my beauty dance.”

A morning breeze touches my face;

the fragrance of mogras and roses reaches me.

My footsteps walk towards them

on the green grass as I walk;

I fill myself with morning beauty.

A Journey Song

 NaPoWriMo / GloPoWriMo 2025

Kalpana Shah

Day: 18

Prompt: a journey song

Jazz in the moonlight speeds.

On highway driving, I steer the wheels.

There are few vehicles

due to being  off day.

Music is loud with friends, I enjoy. Our favourite singer Badshah Khan’s singing

On the tune, “Kinya tareefa chahidiya…”,

we steer towards Mount Abu.

We imitate being drunk with soft drinks.

We relish popcorn and puffs. During evening hours, enjoying sunset,

our bodies move to the music

And we dance to the tunes.

It’s fun to drive, taking turns.

All our friends find it fun to drive. In all this,

we find ourselves free.

And we think, why should boys have all the fun?

We feel empowered, unstoppable and free.

We are the queens of the road,

and we own it.

Day: 19

I don’t know! Where to start from? I, a person with humour, have to narrate a tale of bravery.

A tragedy turned triumph happened last week.

My family and I were in the sitting room

when we heard a loud bang and a cry for help.

We looked at each other quizzically,

wondering whether to open the door.

From the window, I saw

A young lady, elegantly dressed

In  red dress and red stilettos, ringing the bell and knocking.

A stranger was at our door, hastily ringing the bell.

I opened the door and asked, “Who are you?

And why the repeated, hasty bells?”

She came in, followed by two men.

We were frightened.

My  husband asked, “Who are you?”

“Why have you closed the door?” One man stood near the door, holding a knife to the girl’s face, who seemed familiar.

I heard muffled screams from the girl.

After a few minutes of struggle, the police arrived, pushed open the back door, and took hold of the two men. My daughter came down from her room and called the girl, “Hey Tiara, are you okay?” As she unmasked Tiara’s face, Tiara hugged her and said, “I didn’t imagine Kavish would do this to me.” “I loved him a lot!”

Tiara explained,“Kavish had come to know about her engagement

Wanted  her to run away with him. When she refused, he started threatening and following her.

Tiara thanked my daughter, saying, “Ishani, thanks a lot for saving my life!”

Ishani replied, “I was up in my room and knew Tiara was coming, so I was waiting for her.” She added that Kavish had been harassing Tiara for long, and what he did that day was intolerable.

I am proud of my family’s bravery and the police’s prompt action that saved Tiara’s life.

We all stood together, supporting each other, and proved that courage can conquer even the most difficult situations.

Paradox of Life

 NaPoWriMo / GloPoWriMo 2025

Kalpana Shah

Day: 20

I know great stories

Stories are hidden histories

I hear about past, in present

A present, will soon be past

So you see, how important is past

People will never remember you as present

What you gave or give will be remembered

Under the ruins of yours, when you will be dead

So don’t think present think future

How would you like people to remember you?

What character would you like to play?

Don’t tell me nothing about good people

I don’t remember them, i remember bad so that i neverturn bad

Baddies are remembered and stories of them are spread

It’s a tragedy of history and story

History about kings and leaders

As we all remember, we speak less of good people and more of bad people

It’s a paradox of life;

If you want to be remembered

Be a good man in bad form

Stage fiasco

 NaPoWriMo / GloPoWriMo 2025

Kalpana Shah

Day: 22

Parading  on the stage, i thought!

Excited! More than parading;

Excitement was for new ethnic Rajasthani accessories

Because i have to act as a Rajasthani girl

On a stage for fancy dress show

A dance of “Ghoomer”i took to show

Finally, the day arrived

In my school,

all classes students, took their seats,

And i was unaware with the audience

Very much exalted about my beauty and my grace

Not aware of my name being announced

till my friend took me out of my highs

No sooner i entere the stage

Seeing black hair covered the ground

As if a black carpet was laid

I got so nervous and threatened

That i stood numb & dumb there,

Right in front of the audience

I forgot the dance and ran away from the stage

As i reached back stage

I cried and cried till tears dried

That was the end of my stage shows

After years, i overcame my fear

The urge to perform “Ghoomer”

I again took to stage

Forgetting about childhood

I was all prepared

On the stage of college

I finally, succeeded,

And my dream of performing came true

A Music from the Sea

 NaPoWriMo / GloPoWriMo 2025

Day : 25

A music from the sea,

I can hear from far off land

Tune familiar,  i hear again

In the silence of night

A moon that shines

Silvery water

Sand on beach

Roars of waves

Ebbs and tides in sea

Sand slipping under my feet

They all tell the story same

Feeling familiar

But the tune of far off land

I feel, is calling me

My beloved on other side

In the music i see

Waiting for me

Calling me

Within hopes

Hoping for me

I hear a tKalpana's Poems & Writingsl come back

Llittle realization he has;

People, once move forward

Never steps back

Bid me farewell dear

Stop the tune you play

Give me peace to live

How can poles apart meet?

Extinguish the burning lamp

Go away! Go away!

Snatch and scratch me

Take yourself away from me

Let the ship sail in water

Let the ship sail in water

Day : 26/4/25

Sonnet

Thoughts running wild, here and there

Confusion building, collapsed thoughts, apocalyptic mind

Debating ideas, Emotions mounting pressure

Words deliberately cohering me to unwind

Fear creeping in resigning body, in-built system shaking roots

Can there be a way, a question arise, when sun rise

A face of problem that i imagined, is here on hoot

I strive for peace but what if my mind is a battle wise

As enemies, they were equipped to war and seal

Thoughts bleeded, some injured, few were sound

Revoking peace with war,  space for peace  they fill

A ground of my mind i thought will clean

I took up challenge, i picked up fight

I made  my way to win, one by one, i puked them out

Dikshs for Moksha

 NaPoWriMo / GloPoWriMo 2025

National Poetry Writing Month

Kalpana Shah

Day :27

             Diksha for Moksha

She was renouncing to become a monk

Date fixed, time fixed, she fixed herself

In the world of minimalism

It wasn’t easy, especially in jainism

They visit houses of jain communities and feed themselves

Bare feet they walk for miles and miles for days

They fast on fix days or can be months or years

They leave colors of robes as their lives

In white they survive.

Masking their mouth for not killing a tiniest living species of the world

Their every single hair is pulled out to remove

Just in the wish to unite with god

Few days before “diksha” for “moksha”

Many celebrations took place

To donate her rich materialistic things a huge procession happens

Band bajas are called, music played

People throng in thousands to see her

Luxuries of luxurious life, she is prepared to leave

Her face shone like Moon

And glow within her was radiating on her face

Her body showing no regrets of renouncing family, parents

Herself adorned in beautiful chaniya cholis and jewelleries

A billion dollar girl was she!

Celebration of Renouncement was like a marriage

Poets, authors and writers can write on marriages

Very few can be inspired to write on “Diksha”

Leaving  everyone and everything,

Turning her back she left,

Accepting the most difficult path

Or can be said, “ A road less travelled” by Robert Frost

Her determination ferocious

Prepared for all hardships

Happily with a smile she renounces and moves towards road tough

For peace in the peace, peace for every soul

Day: 29

Don’t dart me with your eyes

My heart is very precious

I have zero tolerance

 I am aging in youth

Leave me alone

Let my heart take a leave

Your lips kiss my lips

Whenever I see you

On my canvas

You mean a lot to me

Your swag in your swirl

I can feel

Your designer waist

I can imagine; killing me

Remembering your long toes

Spiral rings on one of them

Encircles my thoughts towards you

Imagica of Kashmir

Day: 30

          Imagica of Kashmir

“Kitni khoobsurat yeh tasveer hai, yeh kashmir hai, yeh kashmir hai!”

These lines of Bollywood song

I would here on and on

It was a time, in college, i recited this song, fantasizing and romanticizing in it

It was a kashmir built in my imagination

“My kashmir- in my imagination”

Unforgettable memory

I can feel my emotions in that memory yet.

After years of my life

A real kashmir, i visited last year

And i remembered that song

And my dream came true

“A Mini Switzerland of India”

“Kitni khoobsurat yeh tasveer hai, yeh kashmir hai, yeh kashmir hai!”

I recited the same lines

But this time, in reality

I was drinking a mesmerizing beauty of kashmir

Though many adjectives  or figure of speech i use, will not be enough for kasmir

This kasmir of real was “God gifted reality”

A poetic heart in me, will love to relish the beauty of kashmir of imagination

Kalpana’s imagination- kashmir

This year- kashmir

Not of tilips, Not of Snow

Whites and colours left, changed their colors

Changed the reality of “God Gifted Kasmr”

It’s not just a soil but beauty of God been tarnished, destructed

No contradictory adjectives, sufficient to describe the terrorists in Kashmir

It’s now echoes of screams of 28 tourists

Who were pulled out of crowd

Brutally killed in the name of religion

Bruising the softness of religion

It’s now colour of blood

In the place of richnesses of colors

It’s white coffins turned red

It’s now silent sobs lamenting

A song now - in slow motion

We all sing eulogy for “the Heroes of Kashmir.”
